Observations and comments on software, project management, collaboration, and related topics

About

I’ve been doing work in the information technology space pretty much since i started working (if you ignore a two month stint at a Newark, DE Burger King, and a Public Safety job @ the University of Delaware when i was in college). I originally started out in helpdesk @ the UD while studying philosophy and ancient languages, then moved up to desktop support (after UD), then networking, eventually moving to software development using Microsoft tools, and finally ending up doing solution architecture, technology evangelism, and project management in my current position.

I’ve been at Xerox for 9 years so far, which is way longer than i ever thought i would spend at a large corporation, but the combination of being able to work in the “virtual office” and the few good people i’ve had the privilege to work with have contributed to my longevity at the company.

I’m quite enterpreneurial in spirit, although my day job and family life leave little time to turning my dreams into reality. I’ll admit, a little less Xbox 360 would probably help move things along, but having grown up in the Soviet Union with virtually no access to any technology beyond the radio and Black & White TV (well into the 80s), giving up gaming is unthinkable.

By the way, the title of this blog was originally going to be “smrt” – a reference to Homer Simpson’s exclamation of ”I am so smart, i am so smart, S-M-R-T!”. I later decided it was too high brow, and went with something obviously silly.  At least i hope it’s obvious.

I currently live in the beautiful Southern Chester County in Pennsylvania, USA.
